We are seeking an enthusiastic Quantity Surveyor, who is looking to develop within a Tier One Contractor and be commercial lead in future projects. Reporting into our Senior Quantity Surveyor, based in our Central team at Cheltenham, this is a full time, permanent role, over 5 days per week.

Duties of the Role:

• Ensure accurate and timely reporting to Senior QS (Project lead).
• Tackle difficult issues early.
• Financial Control of Sub-Contract packages , maximising profitability but maintaining client and supply chain relationships.
• Identify and eliminate risk.
• Aspire to the very highest standards of quality, service and business performance, tackling difficult issues early, striving to eliminate risk and achieving project targets.
• Actively develop and strengthen relationships with clients and their teams to maximise team and business goals.
• Drive and maintain a high level of financial and commercial control
• Adopt a professional and considerate approach to maintain good working relationships.
• Support the Contracts Manager/Operations Director in achieving successful project delivery
• Actively develop and strengthen relationships with the supply chain to maximise team and business goals.
• Production, management and mitigation (where applicable) of any Extension of Time or Delay Claims under the Contract.
• Support the Senior QS in Value Engineering process including liaising with all key stakeholders
• Support the Senior QS in the Settlement of Disputes.
• Any other duties associated with this position which are related to the objectives of the Company or Team or contribute to individual development.

Key Skills & Experience Required:

• BSc qualified
• 3-5 years experience with a main contractor
• Multi-use development of office, car parking and Infrastructure works.
• Understanding and experience of JCT Sub-Contracts.
• Able to undertake, negotiate and manage large value / design Sub-Contract tender enquiries, normalisations, orders, and daily account management to final account status.
• Able to assist the Senior Quantity Surveyor in change management and monthly cost reporting.
• Analytical thinking skills
• Strong organisation, IT, and attention to detail
• Accuracy of administration and compliance with company standards
• Excellent Interpersonal Skills
• Early identification of signs/ potential issues
• Ability to take lead/chair meetings and bring parties together

• Working away from home, including travelling long distance to meet business needs
